Don’t laugh or discard this idea before trying it. I was standing in front of the sink the other day and realised a great photo opportunity was staring me in the face. There in two large jars was a variety of kitchen utensils just waiting to have their photo taken. Full of holes, texture, pattern and all shiny and bright [...]

These three lenses will [...]

I love when odd pieces of crazy photo gear show up on eBay and this one has crazy written all over it. The listing, which sadly ended back in December, claims this 5200mm prime is more than 6-feet long and weighs about 220-pounds. The more of the listing you read, the more crazy numbers you come across. Minimum focus distance? 120 meters, which is just a shade under 400 feet. That means that if you [...]

The style continues: the rear has the usual four way rocker plus a vertical row of four buttons (menu, function, trash, [...]

Tilt-shift lenses create a great miniature effect on photographs of everyday things. The problem? These specialized lenses are insanely expensive (think $1,000 range). This video from Make demonstrates how to make a DIY tilt-shift lens on the cheap.
