NYC Photographer, Lori Nix, is not you're typical photog, she is also a gifted artist! Her series entitled "The City" is a perfect example of what her creative mind is capable of. She creates dioramas in her small Brooklyn studio with her assistant, Kathleen Gerber, and then photographs the tiny scenes using a large format 8x10 camera (that's right, she is still using film!). Enjoy!

Fairs are a great place to take “Character shots” with all of the different costumes and characters found there, such as this Renaissance Fair maiden.
It has been “many” years since I used to shoot portrait portfolios for Hollywood hopefuls, but many of the tricks I learned back then I have used ever since when shooting every thing from people to bugs. Even if you never do a model shoot, all [...]

It's not very often I see insects and don't freak out a little. Even if only inside my head so as to retain my gruff exterior to my girlfriend. The photos in this series not only managed to keep me from screaming, in fact they did the exact opposite. They gave me a sense of calm and relaxation, a feeling that I have certainly never experienced before when dealing with insects. See the rest of the [...]
