I had to rewrite this article a few times. My final and most significant rewrite occurred after I took a close look at the photos of the Samsung WB850F camera and found it to be wonderfully handsome. There was a time when “handsome” and Samsung did not often occur in the same sentence. Not if we were talking about cameras, anyway. That was a few years ago though, and the new Samsung WB850F [...]

This is the second video in our new “What’s In Your Camera Bag” series. People are always asking me what camera and backpack I use when I’m mountain biking. In this episode I show the camera equipment I typically carry when I’m out on my mountain bike and how I carry it. Major issues for riding with a camera are carrying a hydration bladder in your pack and the possibility of breaking [...]

This is a project I’ve wanted to do for a long time – a series of “What’s In My Camera Bag” videos, featuring different kinds of pro photographers and their gear. Seeing what we carry in our camera bags and backpacks gives a lot of insight into how we shoot and what’s necessary to get the job done. This video is just the first of many. There’s exciting news for Adobe Lightroom users. Adobe has released a public beta version of Lightroom 4. It’s available as a free download to anyone who wants to download and install it. You don’t have to have a current version of Lightroom installed to use it. Of course, it is beta software so it’s a work in progress and you may encounter problems. It also won’t update your current [...]

Fresh out of VFS and I was anxious to keep working! It’s like an addiction! I was talking to my classmates that we should start a support group for recent graduates, ha! You get so accustomed to going to school every day and working, it’s tough to get out of that routine.
So, I stayed in that routine and decided to finish my first entry into the coveted 11 second club animation competition.

The Nikon 1 system is Nikon’s first foray into the world of mirrorless cameras. They introduced two cameras back in September, the J1 and V1. I’ve been using the $650 J1 (price includes 10-30mm kit lens), the less expensive of the two Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras. Both the J1 and the V1 share the same 10-megapixel CX-format sensor, 3-inch LCD display, Expeed 3 processing, full HD video [...]
