Well check out these great before and after images of 1950′s pin-up girls which gives you a sneak peak of the photograph [...]

Leica just announced the X2, a high-end compact camera with a 16.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. The X2 is basically an updated version of the X1, which was introduced in the fall of 2009. Most of the features and functionality are the same, including the 24mm f/2.8 Elmarit Asph lens. What sets the Leica X2 apart from other high-end compacts is the big APS-C sensor – the same size used in most [...]

Trey Ratcliff is perhaps one of the most well known and adored HDR photographers today. The High Dynamic Range images he creates are not subtle by any means and he takes no apologies when it comes to creating images he personally enjoys. In this video, Trey talks about his gear (mainly Nikkor 12-24 and Really [...]

Here’s a fascinating video of 44-year old photographer Qalam Nabi. He is one of two street photographers left in the capital city of Kabul. The son of a street photographer himself, he started shooting at the age of eleven. Watch as he demonstrates how to use his instant camera. He does all of the developing [...]

You often hear film makers say, “Your video is only as good as your audio”. Obviously video production goes a long way too but poor audio can completely ruin an otherwise great video. Until recently, DSLR cameras have been anything but great at recording audio. The on board microphones are noisy and prone to record [...]

Filmmaker Philip Bloom has gotten his hands on Nikon’s and Canon’s newest full-frame digital SLRs. Luckily for us, we get an extensive side-to-side comparison in this rather thorough shoot-out. Bloom uses the almost 30 minutes to go through resolution, aliasing, low-light, and feature comaprisons. Let us know what you think in the comments section!

Joerg Niggli created this timelapse video of Venice, which shows a day in this gorgeous Italian city, from sunrise to sunset. If you haven’t yet traveled to Venice, this video is a cheaper alternative for you, so thank Joerg for saving you some cash! He used a Canon G10 to shoot the timelapses, and for [...]

18 year old Florence Colgate from Britain won the ’Britain’s Most Naturally Beautiful Face’ contest. Apparently, it was based on the science of symmetry, width and length of her face, and perfect facial features. Some have even regarded her as the having the World’s most perfect face. With beauty being so subjective, do you believe there [...]

ETHICS STATEMENT: I made this in my own time (and it took A LOT of time!) for the readers of my blog. I was not paid by any manufacturer to do this. The two Nikons were supplied to me on loan as review cameras by Nikon UK for this review. I have never and will never be paid by a manufacturer to review a product. My opinions are my own and always will be. There is a big plug for my site sponsor [...]

Anyone who has picked up a magazine with photographic content is well aware of the amount of retouching and massaging that goes into many of the photos displayed in advertisements or in editorial features. But at what point does the ‘retouching’ go too far? Model Coco Rocha was shocked when she discovered that an image [...]

You’ll enjoy being a fly on the wall for this one. Nicholas Hendrickx gets quite creative with a bit of macro photography with this little series. Not only is this idea a fun one, I’m sure it took a ridiculous amount of patience and detail to “prop” up every little piece of the picture. For the [...]

As photographers I think we all love a good sunset or sunrise. For me, personally, I rarely see a sunrise, but that’s the life of a night owl I suppose. The rare time that I am up for a sunrise (usually by force) I always find myself snapping iPhone photos like nobodies business. I recently [...]

Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Sean Connery are all Russian generals. At least in this set of images they are. These came from a site called ReplaceFace, where you can get your own personalized portrait as a general. I have to admit, I would gladly hang this portrait of Bill Murray over my mantle (if [...]

Photographer Martin Schoeller recently shot this TIME Magazine cover on an extended method of motherhood. The featured cover shows an image of a young mom and her son, still breastfeeding at age 3. While there is no right or wrong time to stop breastfeeding, these images have stirred up quite the controversy on just that. [...]

Every now and then a unique way of filming the same old car commercial catches my eye. Event Projection uses projection mapping to advertise the S-Max put out by Ford. Although the filming involves a little more than the average studio equipment, the crew is able to incorporate some great action shots without leaving their studio. [...]

Photographing birds out in the wild seems pretty tough. Oregon photographer Jon Myers wanted to make the challenge even tougher by bringing the birds into his studio. Using large softboxes to create a space for the birds to fly, Jon was able to photograph eagles, ospreys, and hawks perfectly while in flight. The shots are [...]

Leica has gone against the grain of recent camera bodies with this interesting release of a digital camera that shoots only black and white images. The Leica M-Monochrom is a full-frame, 18MP Rangefinder style camera. What do you think of the price of something like this? Novelty or in a class all on it’s own? [...]
