Nikon launched a bunch of new Coolpix compact digital cameras last night. Among those cameras was the P7100, the latest incarnation of their high-end, full-featured rangefinder-style compact. Nikon DX Micro-Nikkor 40mm f/2.8 – Affordable Macro Lens

Nikon recently announced an inexpensive macro lens for DX (APS-C crop sensor) digital SLR shooters. The new AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G lens has an effective focal length of 60mm and a very nice suggested retail price of US $279.95. It has a true macro reproduction ratio of 1:1 and focuses as close as 6.4 inches (162.6mm) for close-up photos of insects, flowers, etc.

Nikon announced 8 new Coolpix compact digital cameras yesterday, including the new S9100 pocket superzoom. The Nikon Coolpix S9100 packs an 18x zoom lens (25-450mm equivalent) into a pocket-sized package. That puts the S9100 in a first place tie with the Samsung WB700 for longest zoom on a pocket camera.
