Below you’ll find full resolution studio tests of the new Canon PowerShot SD4500 IS pocket superzoom camera at all ISO settings. The SD4500 IS uses a 10-megapixel Canon “HS System” CMOS sensor for better low light performance (as well as 1080p HD video). The Canon PowerShot G12 and S95 are also HS System cameras but they use standard CCD sensors instead of a CMOS like the SD4500 [...]

Jake posted on Twitter about how much he loved his new Canon PowerShot G12 camera. I invited him to share his G12 love with the world by writing a user review here on PhotographyREVIEW.com. He outdid himself on the review with tons of details on the camera’s performance, features and specs. Since his review was also our first for the Canon G12, I decided it needed to be honored by making [...]

Canon has launched their new television, print and online advertising campaign titled “Your Second Shot”. The new campaign promotes Canon’s HS System which sharpens image quality in poor-lighting conditions without the use of the flash and encourages consumers to recapture their lost moments when photos didn’t turn out due to poor-lighting, blurriness, and overexposure.
Canon’s [...]

This relatively new exposure setting is found on the main command dial of some Canon EOS DSLR’s.
What it is: Creative auto (CA) is literally and figuratively between the full auto (a.k.a. the “Green Zone”) and program exposure modes. It gives inexperienced shooters control over simplified camera settings that are typically not adjustable in the auto mode and confusing in program.
Who it’s [...]

The Canon G-Series has long been one of the go-to choices for professional photographers and serious enthusiasts who want a high-powered compact camera. Like the recently announced PowerShot S95, which shares the same sensor, the new Canon PowerShot G12 is more of a refresh than a completely new camera. The most important change is the addition of 720p HD video with stereo sound. Like the S95, [...]

Hands On: Canon EOS 60D
You don’t have to search far to find an overriding theme for Canon in 2010: high-definition video. Every new DSLR introduced by the company this year has included it, and the new EOS 60D ($1099, body only) is no exception.
While the new camera has the same video capabilities [...]

I was pumped to get my 28″ Westcott Apollo Soft Box in the mail today and immediately did some tests with it. I’ve seen it used all over the internet and I know it’s one of the most popular and cheapest options out there for a soft box light modifier and wanted to see how useful it might be for my work.
The infamous Apollo softbox
Questions I had were:
How will it work with my [...]

Craving a camera with more pixels? Well, perhaps Canon’s new 120-million pixel sensor will suit
you well. That’s right, the folks over at Canon have developed a 13,280 x 9,184
pixel, 29.2mm x 20.2mm sensor. Currently there are no plans yet for the 120-megapixel
sensor to make its way into a camera anytime soon. However the APS-H CMOS sensor does have potential for use in
medical imaging [...]

The Best Yet?
The EOS 550D‘s specifications certainly do appear to put it well ahead of its rivals. Canon’s 18-megapixel APS-C sensor has a 4-megapixel advantage over the best of the rest (Pentax, Samsung, Sony), while arch-rival Nikon is still using 12-megapixel sensors in its own APS-C format digital SLRs, giving away no fewer than 6 million pixels to the Canon.
Megapixels are no guarantee of [...]
